History .
The “Cité des métiers” Concept was created in 1993 at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie of Paris. 30 years later, it has been disseminated as a label. Today, this label represents 23 territories spread over 6 countries, brought together in an association: the Cités des métiers International Network.
An innovative concept .
A cité des métiers is a lifelong career guidance center jointly managed by an eco-system of stakeholders, able to provide information and counselling on all aspects of professional life.
The access is free of charge, anonymous and open to all types of audience regardless of their age, gender, social or administrative status.
It is organized in information and counselling desks whose titles directly refer to visitors’ concerns instead of institutional purposes.
The Cités des métiers offers multiple points of view thanks to the implication of various career guidance services and their staff.
Documentation and information are available in open access and in a broad variety of formats, to ensure accessibility.
The Cités des métiers regularly organised events, conferences and workshops to promote local employment, job and training diversity and opportunitites. The Label authority certifies that the “Cités des métiers” applies the different key principales and core elements as stated in the common Charter.
The Label .
The Label is a trademark owned by Universcience, who ensures and guarantees the certification process of the project implemented and the audit of the Cité des métier already operating. It makes sure the Charter is respected and supervises the development of new projects.
