Désir Caroline

Licenciée en droit à l’ULB et en droit social à la VUB, Caroline Désir a débuté sa carrière en tant qu’avocate en droit du travail avant de bifurquer rapidement vers la politique. De 2009 à 2019, elle siège comme députée au Parlement de la Région de Bruxelles-Capitale et au Parlement de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (notamment au sein de la commission Éducation). De 2013 à 2019, Caroline Désir est également échevine à Ixelles (rénovation urbaine, logement, mobilité puis instruction publique). Elle est élue députée fédérale en mai 2019.

Le 17 septembre 2019, Caroline Désir devient Ministre de l’Éducation en Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Conformément aux valeurs qu’elle défend depuis le début de sa carrière, elle consacre son énergie à la défense d’un enseignement plus juste, plus efficace et plus inclusif. C’est l’objectif premier du Pacte pour un Enseignement d’excellence, vaste réforme du système scolaire qui vise à améliorer la qualité de l’enseignement francophone.

Met een diploma rechten aan de ULB en arbeidsrecht aan de VUB, begon Caroline Désir haar carrière als advocaat in het arbeidsrecht voordat ze vertrok naar de politiek. Van 2009 tot 2019 was ze lid van het Brusselse Parlement en van het Waalse Parlement (in het bijzonder actief binnen het Onderwijscomité). Van 2013 tot 2019 was Caroline Désir ook schepen in Elsene (voor stadsvernieuwing, huisvesting, mobiliteit en openbaar onderwijs). Ze werd in mei 2019 verkozen tot federaal plaatsvervanger.

Op 17 september 2019 wordt Caroline Désir minister van Onderwijs in de Federatie Wallonië-Brussel. In overeenstemming met de waarden die ze sinds het begin van haar carrière verdedigt, wijdt ze haar energie aan de verdediging van eerlijker, effectiever en inclusiever onderwijs. Dit is ook de prioritaire doelstelling van het Pact voor excellentie in het onderwijs, dit zal zorgen voor een ingrijpende hervorming van het schoolsysteem en kwaliteitsverbetering van het Franstalige onderwijs.

With a law degree from ULB and employment law from VUB, Caroline Désir began her career as a lawyer in labor law before quickly branching out into politics. From 2009 to 2019, she sat as a Member of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region and of the Parliament of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation (notably within the Education Committee). From 2013 to 2019, Caroline Désir was also alderman in Ixelles (urban renewal, housing, mobility and public education). She was elected federal deputy in May 2019.

On September 17, 2019, Caroline Désir becomes Minister of Education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. In accordance with the values ​​she has defended since the beginning of her career, she devotes her energy to the defense of fairer, more effective and more inclusive education. This is the primary objective of the Pact for Excellence in Education, a vast reform of the school system which aims to improve the quality of French-speaking education.
